Greenwood Academy Inspires Future Careers with 2024 Apprenticeship Awareness Event
Early October saw the return of Greenwood Academy’s popular Apprenticeship Awareness Event. This initiative has run successfully now in the school for a number of years. Around 800 Greenwood pupils from S3-S6 had the opportunity to attend the 2024 event to increase their understanding of apprenticeships from foundation to modern and graduate level. A mix of 21 local and national employers were in attendance, who offer various types of apprenticeship opportunities. “It was wonderful to see many past Greenwood pupils who are now completing an apprenticeship represent their company and speak to current students about their experience.” Emma McClymont, Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce
“It was incredibly good, can’t rave about it enough. Pupils were very keen and engaged so well with myself and 2 colleagues, they asked loads of questions and the school had to print out an extra 150 school programmes for me which meant I gave out over 250 school programmes to pupils. I hope in some small way, we have managed to inspire them to come to college either as part of their timetable or full time. Greenwood staff and pupils were incredible.” Yvonne Adamson, North Ayrshire School-College Partnership Officer
