Empowering Future Officers: Ayrshire Police Division and Ayrshire Chamber Offer Youth Work Placement Program with Police Scotland
“Ayrshire Police Division support the Ayrshire Chamber work placement programme – providing a unique opportunity and insight with Police Scotland.
Campus Officers, who keep people safe within our schools, identify and encourage young people to apply for a placement opportunity. The programme gives young people of all backgrounds a means of engagement with the police service, and encourages positive participation in their community.
We vary the experience on each occasion. Historically, successful applicants have spent time with Roads Policing, CID, Custody, Mounted Branch, Mountain Rescue, and even the Air Support unit.
The opportunity gives young people a chance to speak with police in a relaxed environment, gives them confidence to engage with officers, and gives officers an understanding of what motivates our potential future Constables.
Upon completion of the programme, those who show an interest in joining the police, leave with a knowledge and focus on the standards required in education, fitness and professionalism. We have examples of current serving officers whose first police experience was at an Ayrshire Police Division work placement.” Guy Jenner, North Ayrshire Police Division
