At Alex Begg we produce products for the world’s most prestigious fashion houses and brands as well as our own exquisite designs for our brand Begg x Co. Our exceptional design-led approach sets us apart from other luxury weavers. Whether you want to turn an existing design into a woven work of art, or you need help creating an entire collection of accessories from scratch, our creative team of craftspeople can assist with projects.  Our name has been synonymous with quality since our inception in 1866.

                                     

 

With a workforce of just under 200, there is a real community feel among staff members. We invest heavily in our people not only to develop their skills but to make sure Alex Begg is a great place to work.  At Alex Begg we pride ourselves on continuously improving as a company, offering employees the opportunity to cross-skill and gain experience in multiple disciplines to encourage individual growth as well as cross-departmental interactions. All this aims to equip colleagues with knowledge, skills and behaviours to unlock their full potential. Our experienced workforce is always supportive of our younger team members and take pride in sharing their years of knowledge and experience to allow them to grow and develop their craft skills.

We have a focus on supporting local young people and careers at Alex Begg through relationships with local schools, offering tours for students to increase their appreciation of what employment opportunities exist in a mill, work experience as well as WorkOut Placements to combine education and work.  2022 sees us welcome 5 apprentices with the existing team members being key in selecting the right young people to ensure our future growth and success.

We enjoyed the opportunity to work with Ayr Academy Fashion and Textile students to encourage their creative projects and provide reusable materials to enhance their sustainable projects.  The Worshipful Weaving Institute has always been a keen supporter of Alex Begg and allow us to bring in young design talent to the team.

                                 

Our work with young people goes beyond our workplace including our relationship with Whiteleys Retreat who offer an invaluable respite service to young people and their families.  Our team are passionate about raising funds and giving back to Whiteleys.

We have ambition to further work with young people in our communities and offer opportunity in our workplace as we recognise, they are key to our future success and business growth.
