Alexander’s Career is Set for Take Off

Glasgow Prestwick’s Sonia Rafferty, Human Resources Director said, “At Glasgow Prestwick Airport we offer many work experience placements each year for pupils in 4th-6th years around Ayrshire to take part in. The airport has many opportunities for young people, with the variety of job roles across the business, this can help give pupils a full insight into how the airport operates on a daily basis and what working life can be like.

Commenting on his work experience, Alexander from Marr College said; “I spent my week visiting a selection of departments throughout the airport. One of the areas that I really enjoyed was working alongside the Airfield Operations team. Here I learned how the operators bring an aircraft to stand, dealing with a bird strike and the correct protocols. when driving around the airfield. “Participating in this placement has taught me what can be expected from me when I leave school. It has been a great experience and I would like to thank Glasgow Prestwick Airport for allowing me to take part in the programme.”
