A Stylish Success: Kyle Academy marks their Fashion & Textiles Project with a Celebration.
On Friday 21st October, Kyle Academy finally celebrated their Fashion & Textiles project. Originally funded in 2019, the initiative
never received its official launch due to the impact of Covid.
The event was warmly hosted by pupils Neve and Ava, setting a warm and welcoming tone. Guests were greeted by Head Teacher Mary Byrne, who spoke about the school’s strong and valued partnership with DYW Ayrshire.
The event continued with an address from the Lord-Lieutenant of Ayrshire & Arran, Iona Sara MacDonald OBE, followed by an inspiring speech from DYW Ayrshire Business Ambassador Walter Smith MBE. He highlighted several impressive milestones achieved by DYW Ayrshire, including £1 million invested in Innovative Projects, 161 school projects funded overall, and 52 of which are within South Ayrshire schools.

Guests also heard from pupils Abi & Jayden, who spoke about the fashion & textiles course and what they have learned from it. Guests then had the chance to interact with Kyle Academy’s additional innovative projects where pupils showcased the valuable skills they have learned within these initiative.
